Heritarq is directed by ENRIQUE SAIZ, an urban planner architect specializing in cultural heritage.

Urbanist architect from the School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid. Diploma in Leadership for Public Management, from IESE.

  • He carried out his first planning works collaborating in the Urban Planning Institute of the University of Valladolid.
  • Starting in 1990, he maintained a professional office in Valladolid and Burgos, from where he carried out architectural projects, urban planning and heritage rehabilitation, as well as special plans for the protection of historical complexes. He worked as a municipal advisory architect in small town halls, where he directed programs for the recovery of heritage elements and complexes.
  • He was a councilor of the Burgos City Council from 1999 to 2003.
  • From 2003 to 2019, he was General Director of Heritage and Cultural Assets of the Junta de Castilla y León, and in that capacity he was a member of the Spanish Historical Heritage Council, and of the Board of Trustees of the Prado Museum.
  • He is a specialist in planning, protection and management of cultural heritage, and an extraordinary professor in Master’s and postgraduate courses on this subject.
  • Among other jobs, he currently leads the international technical team that drafts the candidacy of Cluniac sites in Europe for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • He has also received invitations to participate as a speaker in numerous summer courses, technical conferences, training courses…, related to the protection and intervention in cultural heritage and in historic cities, mainly in the area of ​​Castilla y León, and also in other cities (Lisbon, Porto, Lima, Bogotá, Rome, Bergamo, among others).
